| John Carter of Mars is coming! |
[Nov. 8th, 2009|12:00 am] |

I remember exactly where the John Carter books were found in the old musty library on main street. I must have been younger than ten. Maybe eight even. They were right next to Tarzan, of coarse, both series being written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. But Tarzan didn't to it for me somehow. I gobbled up John Carter though. It was the first fantasy or sci fi I think I had encountered and it coincided with a good stretch of years were we didn't have a tv so I was eaten up with imagination.
Ok, I don't know if I should admit this but I used to run around in my room in a loin cloth... a lot. Lets just say I was eight. Its less embarrassing that way. There was plenty of the usual sword fighting, although that was done outside and in full clothing. But I was never king Arthur. I was John Carter. Flying boats. Reduced gravity. Weird guns. Bizarro races and creatures. Everyone mostly or completely naked all the time. The girls laid eggs. Yep, I was destined for weirdness before I ever found comic books.
About a year ago I was looking to see if there had ever been talk of movies based on the books. I didn't find much. Yesterday I stumbled across this link.
Im a little excited.
Not so excited that Im putting any loin cloths back on though....
Ok, maybe for the premiere ;-)

| Great fight |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|11:24 pm] |

Fedor was favored to win 9 to 1 so I guess its no surprise.
Bret Rogers split his nose wide open with the first punch of the fight and Fedor looked "possibly" endangered for the rest of the round.
But Fedor often looks that way.
Then he timed Rogers and knocked him out with the first punch he threw in the second round.
Still the number one fighter on the planet.
FEDOR!!!

| Bury Me Alive |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|09:16 pm] |
A portrait of the band, We Are The Fallen.
The butterfly is a classic symbol of rebirth after death. I thought it was appropriate, considering that most of the band are former members of Evanescence.
We Are The Fallen Acrylic and Digital
All I see is black and cold As I try to pull you down To the ground, the ground
You bury me alive And everybody's got to breathe somehow Don't leave me, die Too consumed by your own emptiness and lies

| new musick pt.1 |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|11:46 pm] |
here's the first batch
The New Pornographers - Live! The New Pornographers - Challengers (Executive Edition) That live album is only available on their website. The Executive Edition of Challengers was quite an adventure... it's basically just three printed CD-Rs and a download code for stuff you can burn to the discs. You have to buy the regular album separately if you want the full package.
Can - The Legendary Can Can - Saw Delight I'd have bought all Can albums by now if they weren't so damn expensive. My Dad gave me that Legendary CD, it's a compilation of most of the tracks from two of their later albums. He doesn't need it anymore since he was able to obtain the individual releases.
The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour The Beatles - Abbey Road I bought The Beatles: Rock Band and soon after that I got me these remasters. Damn you, promotional synergy!
pg.lost - It's not me, it's you! / Yes I am pg.lost - In Never Out Swedish post-rock, I went to see them with Johannes/ wurstbrot_royal and they were amazing.
Phil Collins - Face Value I honestly like some of his stuff a lot. It was only like 2 or 3 Euros anyway.
Talking Heads - Remain In Light I had no idea this album was that good! Love it.
Queen - A Kind of Magic Queen - The Miracle Until now, I didn't have any band or musician starting with Q in my collection. What can I say? I'm a completionist.
to be continued... |

| Welcome Back |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|03:28 pm] |
So call me Kotter because it seems that having to keep my "posts" under 140 characters has finally gotten to me. I do miss being able to post entries as long as I desire. I think Facebook has the option to create "notes" that can be long enough, but there are a lot of people on my Facebook that make me a little hesitant in divulging too much information.
But I feel comfortable with all of you, espcially you! Yes, you. Awww you're blushing, how cute. Anywho, I need to start releasing some of these thoughts that are swirling around in my head. For multiple reasons, one of which being that it's a great way for me to avoid writers block in regards to my songwriting. And starting very soon, one of my friends from bowling who has been rhyming for a long time, like me, wants to colloborate and take advantage of my home studio and put together an EP together.
I'm excited, he's really good and has a completely different style from me but we would compliment each others style. So we'll see.
